Funerals

A special tribute for a loved one

There are several appropriate times for the bagpipes to be played at a funeral service.  Some families wish to have the pipes played for their loved one throughout the service, while some families choose only one or two selections.

At a funeral, a piper may play:

  • *As the casket is carried into the church
  • *As a part of the service
  • *As the casket is carried out of the church
  • *As the casket is carried to the burial site
  • *At the conclusion of the interment service:  A piper may play a slow aire while walking off into the distance.

At a memorial, a piper may:

  • *Lead a processional
  • *Play as part of the service
  • *Lead a recessional

I will assist you by coordinating with your priest/pastor and the funeral director, always with the appropriate measure of care and dignity.
