Funerals

A special tribute for a loved one

There are several times during a funeral service where it is customary and appropriate to honor a loved one's memory with the majestic sound of the bagpipe.

At a funeral, a piper may play:

  • As the casket is carried into the church
  • As part of the service
  • As the casket is carried out of the church
  • As the casket is carried to the burial site
  • At the end of the interment service... a slow air is played as the piper walks into the distance

At a memorial a piper may:

  • Pipe the processional or prelude
  • Play as part of the service
  • Pipe the recessioinal  or postlude
