There are several times during a funeral service where it is appropriate to honor a loved one's memory with the majestic sound of the bagpipe.
At a funeral, a piper may play:
- As the casket is carried into the church
- As the casket is carried out of the church
- As the casket is carried to the burial site
- At the end of the interment service... a slow air is played as the piper walks into the distance
At a memorial a piper may:
- Pipe the processional or prelude
- Play as part of the service
- Pipe the recessional or postlude
I will assist you in coordinating with your church and funeral director, always with the appropriate measure of care and dignity.
